CHOOSING OUR EXCURSIONS

Travelling with children

We provide life jackets once aboard our boats, families are kept together with plenty of shade available and we provide snorkelling vests for adults and children while they are in the water.

 

Our beach offers calm and shallow waters for the kids to play in and there is plenty of shade under the coconut trees to relax and enjoy the calm breeze. We have beach toys available for the kids to play with, which can be located at the bar.

 

Both fresh and hot water can be provided on request at the bar to wash off any salt water from your baby or heat up any bottle milk you have already prepared.

Travelling in a group

If you are traveling together in a group, we ask you to contact us either via email contact@passionparadise.co or call us on (+1) 809-446-9602 prior to your reservation, so that our team can answer your questions, make any special arrangements and ensure complete piece of mind.

 

If groups are staying at the same hotel, we will ensure that they are on the same bus both in the morning and the return journey in the evening. On arrival our team will ensure you’re your group are together on the same boat if we have been informed when making the booking.

 

We do cater for honeymoon, bachelor, hen, wedding or birthday groups, so please do contact us in advance to making your booking, so that we can discuss your requirements for the special day and any additional charges that may apply.

Travelling solo

If you are traveling on your own and feel worried and that you don’t speak the local language, our friendly team are very approachable and speak multiple languages including English, Spanish and French, so you should feel right at home.

The beach

Our beach is located on Catalina Island, which is part of the National Park. We have yellow shallows laid out nicely under the coconut trees, open bar, eating area and clean toilets that is available only for our guests to use and our team are at hand to help answer any questions you may have. There are other companies that do operate from the same stretch of beach and their clients do swim in front of our beach at times.

Food, drink and dietary requirements

We understand how important it is to ensure that we have the right food available to cater for any allergies and dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, vegans and gluten free), so please do inform us on making reservation, either via email contact@passionparadise.co or call us on (+1) 809-446-9602.

 

Our chef changes the food menu daily using the very best fresh ingredients and locally sourced produce with the highest standards.

 

Our premier VIP menu includes a freshly prepared lobster cooked on the BBQ and a glass of white wine in addition to our premier lunch menu.

 

Our premier menu includes BBQ Chicken and Pork Chops with a range of different Dominican dishes to feast from. There is also a range of different pastas, potatoes and salad dishes to choose from and to finish your meal off with some fresh fruit of the day.

 

Our open bar serves a range of tropical drinks, cold drink water, coke, sprite, rum and local beer, which is all inclusive of your package. We do have a selection of imported beers and wine along with snacks and coconuts which can be purchased at the beach bar.

Safety and medical information

Our certified team are there to ensure that you have a safe and unforgettable experience from the first moment to the last impression. Our team provide various briefings throughout the day to ensure you know what is happening and that you are safe at all times on your adventures in paradise.

 

We meet all safety requirements to operate our scuba diving and snorkel excursions to Catalina Island and certified first aiders to hand in case of an emergency. We also have an oxygen tank, radio, medic first aid box, fire extinguisher and life jackets.

Excursions from cruise ships

Cruise ships usually ferry passengers to La Romana for 9am and leave at 4pm at the end of the day. We depart the marina at 10:00am and there’s adequate time to join our excursions. We can be back in port with plenty of time for passengers to catch their ferry back to the cruise ship at 4:00pm.

 

We recommend catching a taxi as you depart the cruise boat on the right hand side. We are not permitted to enter the port to pick you up, but only to drop you off at the end of the day.

Hotel pick ups and drop offs from La Romana

We pick up from all hotel resorts within the La Romana area. If your hotel is not listed, just let us know and we’ll pick you up wherever you are staying during your holiday.

BEFORE YOU DEPART

PADI Certification

All divers are required to provide a minimum of a PADI open water certification and fill in both the standard PADI waiver and medical form before diving.

 

If you do have any medical problem(s) or are on any treatment(s) then we do require you to have a doctor’s letter permitting you to dive.

 

We do reserve the right to cancel your dive(s) if you do not have any proof of certification and or medical issues.

Currency information

We accept the following curacies Euros, Pesos, USD and British Pounds. We advise that while you are in the Dominican Republic that you use Dominican Pesos or USD.

 

If you are paying for your excursion we do accept visa or master card.

What should I bring?

We recommend that you bring your swimwear, hat, sunscreen, mosquito spray, towel and comfortable foot wear that you do not mind getting wet. There are areas on the boat and beach to change. On your return journey the busses do have AC, so we recommend that you do have dry clothes that you can change into if you are wet.

 

If you have your own masks and fins, you may want to bring them with you, if you don’t, not to worry as we have all the snorkelling and diving equipment on board.

 

We do recommend that you bring some money with you encase you want to purchase some souvenirs, or speciality drinks or snacks at the bar.

ON YOUR EXCURSION

Transportation

We use reputable and certified transport providers authorised by the local government for tourist to ensure your safety at all times and minimise the time that you spend on the bus and maximise your time on the excursion.

 

In Punta Cana and Bavaro we do use multiple buses from the same transport provider to ensure that you minimise your time in the bus. In some cases, you may change bus to join a larger bus heading to La Romana, which is dependent on the number of guests on the day.

Pickup points (important)

We ask that you provide your email and hotel full name and address on making your reservation, so we can confirm your pick-up time and location prior to departure date. If you do have a contact no, we do advise that you provide this as well, encase we need to call you directly.

 

If you can make sure you are waiting at the confirmed location on-time where our bus will have a sign in the main window with ‘Passion Paradise Adventures Catalina Island’. The chauffeur will call out your name and we do ask guests to provide their confirmation email or ticket to the chauffeur to ensure that we do have the right guests aboard.

 

Please note that we only wait 10 minutes at the agree meeting location before moving on to the next pickup point to avoid delays to our other guests.

 

Once all guests have been picked up from their hotels, you will head towards our marina in La Romana.

Drop Off

On arriving back to the marina from La Romana at around 16:00 (4:00 pm), your bus will be waiting to take you back to your hotel. If you require any assistance, please speak to one of team members, who will be happy to help.

Arrival information

When arriving at the marina you will be welcomed by one of our members of staff in orange t-shirts. Please make sure you have all your belonging with you when you depart the bust as we are not responsible for any items left or missing.

 

If you have your own transportation, please check out our map located on the contact page and leave with plenty of time to spare to avoid any disappointment. If you are late or lost please call us on (+1) 809-446-9602.

Disability

We do cater for guests with disabilities, but advise that you contact us either via email contact@passionparadise.co or call us on (+1) 809-446-9602 prior to your reservation, so that we can discuss your needs on the day and confirm suitability of the excursion.

Additional purchases from the bar

Feeling hungry and can’t wait for lunch, not to worry as we do provide different snacks at the bar for purchase. You can also find at the bar some speciality beers, chocolates, cigarettes, t-shirts and hats for purchase.

 

If you are interested in something a little different for lunch why not try a fresh BBQ lobster where prices vary depending on size or even better upgrade to our premier VIP Package, which includes a glass of wine with your lobster.

Underwater photography

Our professional photographer Eileen Philp has specialised in both underwater and portrait photography and tutored by Gwyn Cole with over 8 years of experience in low light conditions.

 

Private underwater shoot is available, but this must be booked prior to the date of the excursions. Prices vary, so we recommend that contact us either via email contact@passionparadise.co or call us on (+1) 809-446-9602 to discuss further.

 

On the day underwater photos are also available, please do speak to Eileen or Chantel. These photos will be processed on the beach and you can review them prior to purchase. Please note that we do not sell one or two photos, but a CD/memory stick with ~50 to 100 photos.

Services on the beach

On Catalina Island, you will find a souvenirs shop and massage area in close proximity of our beach. Our photographer will also be on the beach to capture any special moments.
